Plans To Provide Free Internet To 31 Districts
The projects in 31 districts have been completed by mobilizing funds from the Rural Telecommunication Development Fund under the Nepal Telecommunication Authority. NEA said in a statement on Sunday that the construction of broadband network in 31 districts has been completed.
Under this project, Mercantile Communication, Vianet Communication and Worldlink Communication have completed the network in Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Achham, Bajhang, Bajura, Baitadi, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Doti, Jajarkot, Kalikot, Rolpa, Rukum East and Rukum West districts.
Similarly, WorldLink and TechMinds Network has completed service expansion in Dolpa, Jumla, Humla, Mugu, Dailekh, Surkhet, Salyan, Manang, Mustang, Baglung, Myagdi, Panchthar, Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Terhathum and Khotang districts. In addition, free internet will be available for two years in municipalities, villages, ward offices, community schools and community health institutions and centers and hospitals in these districts.
In some of these districts, the period of using the free service has ended after two years of completion. However, NEA has stated that there are still some districts left.
In case of districts where the free period has expired, the concerned body will be able to use internet at the price fixed by the authority.
